| A MESSAGE FROM OUR CURRENT PRESIDENT |
| |
Dear CHIJ Alumni Association Members,
I am very happy and enthusiastic to take over the helm of the CHIJ Alumni Association. CHIJ brought me 11 years of fond memories. I started my school days from kindergarten at CHIJ Victoria Street and graduated in 1976 with my GCE “O” Levels. CHIJ is the place that moulded my character, gave me a well rounded education and introduced the Spirit of Infant Jesus to me. I have fond memories of the nuns, principals, teachers and students. They were warm, very personable and caring. My class of 4S1 1976 still meet for our annual reunion and the friendship we shared, never changed.
When I was invited to serve in the Alumni, I accepted because it was an opportunity for me to give back some of the kindness and generosity I received during my years in IJ. The committee under the leadership of Catherine Ho did a great job putting together the infrastructure for keeping ex-IJ girls connected. The incumbent committee will be looking into creating a platform for ex-IJ girls to come back to help build a stronger CHIJ network so that together with the current IJ girls we can serve the IJ community and beyond.
In our more than 150 years’ in Singapore CHIJ has never lacked in turning out numerous “women of distinction”. We do have a strong network of ladies who are highly accomplished in their various ways, compassionate, competent and ever ready to come back and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate than they have been. Are you one of these “women of distinction” ?
We are calling all ex-IJ girls who loved our alma mater and feel an attachment to her to come back to what has been to us “The Second Home” of our growing years. You would be welcomed with open arms.
Naturally, some of us will also look forward to the opportunity for renewed ties and networking. The CHIJ Alumni Association aims to provide a platform for just that, an effective platform for ex-IJ girls to find their old friends and teachers, to recapture the great relationships shared at some point of their lives.
We will communicate with you at regular intervals the various projects we embark on and wherein you can offer your strengths and resources so that together, we can make a difference in the lives of those we touch.
Please drops us a note, share a story with us, tell us what you are doing, and we will be happy to publish your story to inspire, to share and to connect! You can reach us at contact @chijalumni.org.
God bless !
Christina Lim
